Paper Painting (C/S392) | Allegany College of Maryland

Traditionally known as collage, this exciting new art form of paper painting allows the artist to create mixed media art works by combining traditional collage and painting techniques. Students will create unique paper paintings using painted and found papers. Demonstrations by artist, Linda Stewart, are designed to teach students how to create their own distinctive paste papers through techniques of stamping, staining, monoprinting on a gel plate, painting, and more. Lessons on design and composition will prepare students to transform an inspiration image into collage art. This will be followed by time for work on individual paper paintings with guidance and encouragement from the teacher. Basic art supplies (paint, papers, scissors, glue, etc.) will be needed. A complete supply list will be e-mailed to the students prior to or handed out at the first class. Come and have fun experimenting with hand patterning your own papers to use in creating your own unique works of paper painting and collage art. Repeat students are welcome.
