Each class will feature a unique flowing, dynamic sequence of poses, that will include a combination of standing, seated, balance, back-down and belly-down postures. Each class will also be themed, either with an anatomical or philosophical focus. Pranayama, or breath control, will be incorporated into each sequence, along with brief seated meditations. Allison also incorporates the use of Sanskrit, the classical Indian language, to describe yoga poses, while providing detailed cues for each pose, ensuring proper alignment and overall safety. Modifications for more challenging poses are offered to students with injuries or limited flexibility and/or mobility, making her classes suitable for students of all ages, fitness levels, and familiarity with yoga. Her classes are light-hearted and she strives to create a safe and uplifting environment free from judgement or competition. Her goal is to offer practical applications of yogic principals that can be taken “off the mat”, leaving students feeling strong, rejuvenated and empowered.
