Suicide, Violence, Mental Illness and Addiction (DHR589) New | Allegany College of Maryland

This training alerts professionals to the connection between violence, suicide, mental illness, and/or addiction.  You will be given information on spotting and preventing violence and suicide among consumers coping with co-occurring disorders.  The cycles of violence and suicide attempts will be discussed with an eye on how to intervene at each stage.  Participants will be asked to take a developmental approach.  We will consider the current data identifying high-risk populations.  Assessment tools and the importance of identifying protective factors will be stressed.
